The ladder keeps climbing. After moving the bankroll to $83, we’re looking to turn it into $168 on Day 3 of the Bet Surge Sports College Basketball Ladder Challenge.
Tonight’s slate gives us a mix of bounce-back spots, strong home teams, and a number that simply doesn’t reflect current form. We’re not overthinking it. We’re trusting good teams in good situations.
Day 3 Picks
Houston ML
Auburn ML
St John’s -3.5

Houston ML vs TCU
Houston is coming off a brutal road loss to Texas Tech, and this is exactly the type of spot where Kelvin Sampson’s teams respond. The Cougars are built on discipline, defense, and effort, and one thing they consistently do under Sampson is avoid extended slumps.
Houston does not lose two games in a row.
Expect a locked-in effort from the opening tip tonight. TCU is capable, but Houston’s physicality, rebounding, and defensive pressure should control this game. This sets up as a classic bounce-back spot where the Cougars reassert themselves and remind everyone why they are one of the most reliable programs in the country.
Auburn ML vs Texas
Auburn has been rolling through conference play, stacking quality wins and playing with confidence on both ends of the floor. After three big conference victories, we expect that momentum to carry right into tonight’s matchup at home against Texas.
Auburn’s home court is a real advantage, and this team feeds off energy. They’ve shown the ability to defend, push tempo, and make timely shots when games tighten up. Texas is dangerous, but this is a tough spot walking into an Auburn team that’s in rhythm and protecting its floor.
We’re backing the Tigers to keep rolling.
St John’s -3.5 vs Butler
St John’s comes home riding a six-game winning streak and draws a Butler team that has struggled to find consistency. Rick Pitino’s group has been sharp defensively, aggressive offensively, and extremely focused during this run.
Laying 3.5 points at home with Pitino in this form feels short. St John’s has been controlling games, not just surviving them, and this is a matchup where their pressure and pace should wear Butler down over 40 minutes.
Rick Pitino by 3.5 is a number we’re more than comfortable trusting.
The Ladder Mindset
Day 3 is about continuing to stack smart wins. Bounce-back spots, strong home teams, and teams playing their best basketball right now are exactly what we’re looking for.
